A smaller, sharper riff on Fuente's shark shape just became one of the hardest cigars to find this year.
Fuente Fuente OpusX No. 77 Baby Shark is a new Dominican puro from Arturo Fuente, rolled at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. from tobacco grown at the Chateau de la Fuente estate in Bonao. It measures 5¼ x 51, a round belicoso tip tapering into a box-pressed foot, the shape the Fuente family calls a Shark. MSRP is $18.50 a cigar in 30-count boxes, though it started shipping to retail in late June 2026 and real street prices are already running two to three times that.

Here's the blend, the shape, and one naming trap worth knowing before you go looking for it.
THE BLEND
The wrapper comes from Chateau de la Fuente, the family's own estate in the Dominican Republic's Cibao Valley. It's the same shade-grown leaf that made the original OpusX line famous, the first Dominican puro to use a Dominican-grown wrapper when it launched in 1995.
Fuente hasn't published a binder or filler breakdown for this specific vitola beyond "Dominican puro." Retailers describe cedar, black pepper, espresso, cinnamon, sweet spice, dried fruit, earth, leather and dark cocoa, but that's retailer marketing copy, not an independent tasting account, so treat it as a rough sketch, not a locked profile.
Nobody has published a formal review or score for Baby Shark yet. It's only been on shelves a few weeks.
THE SHAPE, AND ONE NAME TRAP
Baby Shark gets its name from the shape, a round, unpressed belicoso tip that tapers into a squared, box-pressed foot. Fuente calls this family of shapes a Shark, and Baby Shark is the smallest version yet at 5¼ x 51.
Watch the number. Fuente has used "No. 77" on three different cigars now, the Añejo No. 77 Shark, an older OpusX PerfecXion No. 77 Shark, and this new Baby Shark No. 77. They're three different sizes with three different histories. If you're comparing notes with someone, make sure you're both talking about the same cigar.
"Baby Shark" is the real product name, not a nickname that caught on after the fact. Fuente used it themselves at the cigar's PCA trade show debut in April 2026.

MSRP VS. WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY PAY
$18.50 a cigar is the number Fuente set, in 30-count boxes. That's not the number you'll see at the counter.
Street prices are already running $35 to $50 a single, and full boxes are trading for $1,250 to $1,500. That's the OpusX tax. The line has run allocated and scarce since 1995, and a brand-new shape from Chateau de la Fuente isn't the exception.
THE BLC TAKE
OpusX has earned its reputation the hard way, decades of allocation, not hype for hype's sake. A new shape from that same wrapper leaf is worth paying attention to on name alone.
Whether Baby Shark is worth two to three times MSRP is a different question, and nobody's answered it with a real review yet. If you can find it anywhere near $18.50, buy it. If you're paying $50 a stick, that's your call to make.
