FROM THE PORCH
I wandered onto the Stoic booth at the PCA show in New Orleans, a pretty cool-looking brand, and the owners walked me through the idea, four cigars for the four Stoic virtues. They handed me one to try. I smoked it that night at the table with a few friends, and it was good enough that the guys went back the next day and grabbed their own. Same experience. Great cigar, beautiful boutique brand.

BEHIND THE BLEND

Each size is intentional rather than arbitrary. Wisdom gets the longer, slimmer Churchill format, a slow, contemplative smoke. Courage lands in the classic Robusto lane. Moderation is the most compact and focused option. Justice, the Toro at 6×52, gives the blend its fullest expression. All four come in 20-count cabinet boxes. In July 2025 Stoic added a second blend, the Equanimity, in the same four vitolas, a Corojo wrapper over a Criollo 98 binder, so the virtue names now cover eight cigars across two lines.
THE COLD DRAW
Pre-light, the Ecuadorian Habano wrapper is visibly oily and well-applied, with a slight tooth to the leaf that signals character before the cigar is even lit. The aroma off the foot is dry cedar and a touch of toasted grain, with a whisper of baking spice just underneath. Cold draw has a firm, measured resistance, not too open, not tight, with dry cedar and a faint natural sweetness coming through. Construction is clean throughout: the cap is precise, the seams are nearly invisible, and the cigar sits comfortably in the hand. Everything about the pre-light experience is consistent with what the brand promises.
