The JFR 20th Anniversary Maduro Titan BP is a 6×60 box-pressed cigar from Aganorsa Leaf. It's rolled at the company's own factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. A Mexican San Andres maduro wrapper sits over Nicaraguan binder and filler grown on Aganorsa's own farms. It marks 20 years of JFR, short for Just For Retailers, the brick-and-mortar line Eduardo Fernandez launched in 2005. It runs about $11 per cigar in 21-count boxes. It scored 88/100 from Norm.

FROM THE PORCH
Dallas and I got out on the porch on a beautiful summer day, him for his cookie, me for the JFR 20th Anniversary Maduro. I haven't smoked a lot from JFR over the years, but this one earned my attention fast. Sturdy, flavor-forward, and you can tell the San Andres wrapper is doing real work here.
The biggest surprise was how much oak showed up on the cold draw. That note didn't fade once I lit it either, it carried straight through the smoke and became one of the more defining things about this cigar. Earth, cocoa, espresso, leather, and a good dose of black pepper filled out the rest of the profile. For the price, this one has plenty of character. Dallas got his cookie, I got a smoke worth the time, good day all around.
BEHIND THE BLEND
JFR stands for Just For Retailers, the brick-and-mortar-exclusive line Eduardo Fernandez launched in 2005 under Casa Fernandez. That company became Aganorsa Leaf in 2018, and Eduardo runs it today with his son Max. It has no connection to J. Fuego or to A.J. Fernandez Cigars, different companies entirely, the similar names trip people up constantly. Twenty years on, JFR is still Aganorsa's best seller. The 20th Anniversary line was announced March 25, 2025. It debuted at the PCA trade show in New Orleans that April, then started shipping in May 2025 as regular production. Aganorsa grows its own tobacco on its own Nicaraguan farms and rolls in its own Esteli factory, that's how an $11 anniversary cigar happens.
BLC BLEND BREAKDOWN
BLEND SPECS
THE VITOLA LINEUP
| VITOLA | SIZE |
|---|---|
| Toro | 6.5 × 52 |
| Gordito | 4.75 × 70 |
| Titan ← reviewed | 6 × 60 |
| 770 | 7 × 70 |
Every size in the line is box-pressed with a pigtail cap and an unfinished foot, and published pricing runs $9.50 to $12.50 across the four vitolas. If a 60 ring is more cigar than you want, the Toro at 6.5×52 is the only size under a 60. In my opinion that's the smart entry point for regular-ring smokers. The Gordito gives you the same blend in a shorter sitting, the 770 is the full commitment.
THE COLD DRAW
The Titan comes with a pigtail cap, a small twist of wrapper leaf at the head, snip it or pinch it off, your call. The press is sharp and the wrapper is the color of dark chocolate. It's dense and gritty under your fingers rather than silky, with tight seams and a decent sheen of oil. The foot is unfinished, meaning the wrapper stops short and leaves the filler and binder exposed. So your first puffs are pure Aganorsa Nicaraguan tobacco before the Mexican wrapper joins in. The real surprise on the cold draw was how much oak showed up, strong and unmistakable. It wasn't a one-note tease either. It carried straight through into the smoke and turned into one of the more defining things about this cigar.
BLC CIGAR PROFILE
Burn: The line's known soft spot, expect the burn line to wander and plan on a touch-up or two.
Draw: Excellent across the line, with smoke output to match the 60 ring.
Draw and smoke volume are this blend's strong suit, the burn line is the caveat. Keep the torch close and it's a non-issue.
THE FIRST THIRD
The oak from the cold draw is there from the first light, and it stays put the whole smoke. It's easily the most defining thread here. Earth comes in right alongside it, with toffee and roasted coffee close behind. Thanks to that unfinished foot, the first few puffs lean on the Nicaraguan filler alone, then the San Andres wrapper brings the darker, sweeter side in. It settles in around medium strength early, no rough edges.
THE SECOND THIRD
The middle is where this blend earns its keep, in my opinion. Cocoa builds against the oak and earth, and black pepper starts to fill out the profile without ever taking over. Strength edges past medium here, sturdy and flavor-forward the whole way through.
THE FINAL THIRD
The close turns darker. Espresso moves to the front, leather fills in underneath, and the oak and black pepper carry through to the last inch. Strength peaks at medium-full, a firm ending, not a knockout, and for the price this cigar has plenty of character to show for it.
OVERALL RATING
BLC OVERALL RATING
No formal score existed for the Titan size before this review, this is one of the first published anywhere for this vitola. The case for the number is simple. The flavor arc is real and easy to follow, and the draw and smoke output are excellent. At $11 for this much Aganorsa tobacco in a 60 ring, that's strong value. What keeps it out of the top tier, for me anyways, is the burn line that needs babysitting. The profile is more a clear three-step build than a shape-shifter. That's a cigar you keep around, not a one-time event.
WHO GRABS THIS CIGAR
The big-ring maduro smoker, first and foremost, this was built for you. San Andres fans who want their pepper with sweetness attached will be at home. So will value hunters who want an $11 stick that smokes above its price. If you're a regular-ring guy, grab the Toro from the same line instead. And if a wandering burn line drives you nuts, keep your torch on the armrest, the flavor's worth the maintenance.
